As always, monitor system design involves multiple trade-offs: the sound quality on stage influences the ability of the artists to perform at their best, but each additional monitor speaker degrades the experience of other performers. In small and medium venues, stage spill can also significantly deteriorate the experience for the first couple of rows. In-ear monitoring provides one of the rare silver bullets, but requires careful guidance of the artists and might not always be practical where many acts share a stage.en (English)
